Highlights from the Lincoln Square BID’s 28th Annual Meeting

On Wednesday, April 30, the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District held its 28th Annual Meeting at Lincoln Center's David Rubenstein Atrium (Broadway at 62nd Street). With over one hundred people in attendance, it was a wonderful opportunity for property owners, businesses, nonprofits, residents, and neighbors to come together in support of our district. After enjoying coffee and pastries from Independent Cafe (located inside the Atrium), guests viewed a festive recap video of the BID’s holiday programming as they took their seats.

LSBID President, Monica Blum, and Chair of the Board of Directors, Gary Jacob of Glenwood Management, gave welcome remarks. Attendees then had the opportunity to hear from Dr. Mariko Silver, the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts who shared an insider look into some of the iconic cultural institution’s upcoming events and initiatives. Additional speakers included Councilmember Gale Brewer and Deputy Inspector Candida Pun-Sullivan from the 20th Precinct. Both officials reminded us what a wonderful neighborhood Lincoln Square is and shared their plans to continue ensuring the safety and vibrancy of the Gateway to the Upper West Side.

The BID also took time to recognize several exemplary employees: Clean Team supervisor, Member and Acting Supervisor, Christian Talavera, Clean Team Supervisor Vijai Sumair, and Public Safety Officer Vitali Krauchenka, who represent the best of the best and are integral parts of the BID’s efforts to keep Lincoln Square clean, safe, and beautiful. Awards were also presented to Police Officer Mike McGuire and the entire Community Affairs team at the 20th Precinct, as well as to Hector Caban, District 7 Supervisor at the NYC Department of Sanitation, for their valued community partnership.

The BID covered several business matters at the annual meeting. Alan Locker, Vice Chair of Finance, presented the FY 2026 Budget and Annual Report, which includes the BID’s financial statements and was distributed to each guest along with a copy of the neighborhood guide. Board Chair Gary Jacob discussed the BID's plan to amend the District Plan and Assessment Formula to include a modest annual residential assessment of $0.06 per square foot. Treasurer and Chair of Nominations Wendy Mosler then led the election of 17 Directors and Alternates to our Board. We welcomed returning Board Directors and Alternates and new members. We are thrilled to welcome new members Kent Bullis of Milstein Properties, Michael Cohen of Colliers International, Tom Flaherty of Related Companies, Dr. Jerry Balentine of NYIT, Anthony Mazzocchi of Kaufman Music Center, Travis Proulx of Fordham University, and Dr. Mariko Silver from Lincoln Center to our Board.

All in all, the meeting was a resounding success, and we are looking forward to another great year here in Lincoln Square! You can view photos of the event on our Flickr album.
