Access to specialized healthcare is becoming even more convenient in Lincoln Square. Two new businesses have recently opened along Amsterdam Avenue, expanding the neighborhood’s healthcare offerings for people and their four-legged companions.

IVX Health has opened at 199 Amsterdam Avenue (at West 69th Street), bringing an outpatient infusion center to the neighborhood. The center provides infusion and injection therapies for patients living with a range of complex chronic conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, severe asthma, and many others. Patients receive care in private treatment suites, with appointments available in the mornings, evenings, and on weekends.

Pet owners can also find specialized veterinary care at Hudson Valley Veterinary Dermatology, now open at 149 Amsterdam Avenue (between West 66th and West 67th Streets). Led by board-certified veterinary dermatologist Dr. Jeanne Budgin, the practice specializes in diagnosing and treating skin, ear, and allergy conditions in dogs and cats. The clinic works closely with primary veterinarians to care for pets experiencing chronic itching, recurring ear infections, hair loss, allergic skin disease, and other complex dermatological conditions.

Whether seeking treatment for a chronic medical condition or specialized care for a pet, residents and New Yorkers now have access to two new healthcare resources in the neighborhood. Together, these additions further diversify the range of specialized services available in Lincoln Square.

Every book lover knows the excitement of finding the perfect next read. On National Book Lovers Day, Sunday, August 9, celebrate your love of reading by exploring Lincoln Square’s bookstores, libraries, and cultural shops, where stories of all kinds are waiting to be discovered.

PowerHouse Books (10 Columbus Circle) is the newest addition to Lincoln Square’s literary scene. Located on the third floor of The Shops at Columbus Circle, it joins The Strand (2020 Broadway, between West 69th and West 70th Streets) in giving readers two independent bookstores to enjoy. Browse new releases, timeless classics, children’s books, and staff favorites at either shop. You can also catch an author event or story time at PowerHouse Books, or settle in with a cold drink or pastry from Café Fred during your visit to The Strand. Need help choosing your next title? The Shops at Columbus Circle curated a list of Six Summer Reads to Pick Up This National Book Lovers Day.

Books can be found in unexpected places throughout the neighborhood, too. At The Juilliard Store  (144 West 66th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue), readers will find books inspired by music, dance, and the performing arts. Met Opera Shop (30 Lincoln Center Plaza) features titles celebrating opera and the company’s productions, while the American Folk Art Museum Shop (2 Lincoln Square, Columbus Avenue between West 65th and West 66th Streets) offers books that explore folk art, artists, and exhibitions. You can even stop by Paper Source (10 Columbus Circle) to browse cookbooks, craft guides, and gift-worthy reads.

Lincoln Square is also home to two exceptional libraries. The New York Public Library – Riverside Branch (127 Amsterdam Avenue, between West 65th and West 66th Streets) serves the neighborhood with books, programs, and resources for readers of all ages. Nearby, the the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (40 Lincoln Center Plaza) is internationally recognized for its collections devoted to theater, dance, music, and recorded sound, making it an invaluable destination for anyone interested in the performing arts. Don’t have a library card yet? Apply online here and start exploring everything the New York Public Library has to offer.

Horror fans, mark your calendars! Film at Lincoln Center will welcome back its acclaimed Scary Movies festival from Wednesday, August 12, through Thursday, August 20. Now in its 14th year, the nine-day festival showcases 16 films spanning horror, thrillers, dark fantasies, black comedies, and more, along with filmmaker Q&As, special guest appearances, and restored cult classics. All films will screen in the Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue).

This year’s lineup includes the Opening Night film Buddy and Closing Night selection The Threshing, along with anniversary screenings of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (40th anniversary) and Wendigo (25th anniversary). Audiences can also catch a new 35mm print of Cam, along with films from emerging and acclaimed filmmakers. Whether you’re a longtime horror fan or simply looking for a unique night at the movies, this killer lineup is sure to deliver a reel scare.

Tickets are on sale now and start at $18. Discounted tickets are available for students, seniors, persons with disabilities, and Film at Lincoln Center members. Moviegoers can also save with a three-film package or an all-access pass, while Opening and Closing Night screenings offer the option to attend post-screening parties. Before or after the show, grab a bite to eat at Café Paradiso (144 West 65th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue) or Lincoln Ristorante (142 West 65th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue), both just steps from the Walter Reade Theater.

Summer Streets Returns to Manhattan

Summer Streets returns to Manhattan on Saturdays, August 1, 8, and 15, transforming more than 20 miles of city streets into a car-free playground for walking, biking, running, and recreation. From 7:00am to 3:00pm, the route will stretch from the Brooklyn Bridge to Dyckman Street, including Broadway between West 110th Street and Dyckman Street, with free fitness classes, live performances, art installations, public art, and family-friendly activities taking place along the way. Free Vocational English Classes for Restaurant Workers

#English2Stay is offering free vocational English classes for restaurant workers. Developed in partnership with restaurant operators, the training is designed to address restaurant-focused language needs, strengthen employee engagement, reduce language barriers, avoid costly mistakes, and support employee retention. National Night Out

Join the NYPD and City officials on Tuesday, August 4, for National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and strengthens relationships between neighbors and law enforcement.

The 20th Precinct’s event will take place at Verdi Square (Broadway between West 72nd and West 73rd Streets) from 6:00pm–8:00pm (the Lincoln Square BID will be there!), while the Central Park Precinct and Transit District 1 will host their event at the entrance to Central Park at Columbus Circle from 4:00pm–7:00pm.

Narcan Behind Every Bar

Effective December 13, 2026, New York State employers will be required to include an opioid antagonist, such as naloxone (Narcan®), wherever federal law requires a workplace first aid kit. This requirement applies to virtually all restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and other hospitality businesses in New York. Through the Narcan Behind Every Bar campaign, the NYC Department of Small Business Services and its partners offer free opioid overdose prevention training, overdose rescue kits, and other resources for nightlife and hospitality businesses. Fresh Food For Seniors

Seniors can place the next order of Council Member Gale Brewer’s annual Fresh Food for Seniors program today, Wednesday, July 29, forpickup on Wednesday, August 12, at the Goddard Riverside Older Adult Center (593 Columbus) from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The cost is $10, while the bag of fresh produce from local farmers is worth about $15.

Con Edison Alerts

Due to Con Edison gas work, West 64th Street between Broadway and Columbus Avenue will be closed to through traffic Monday through Friday between 9:30am and 3:30pm, now through Friday, July 31.
Con Edison is performing a Gas Upgrade on West 68th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West, with work expected through Wednesday, September 30. Please expect limited street parking, temporary lane/bike lane closures, noise, and generator(s). Dear Lincoln Square BID Members and Friends:

As many of you already know, after almost 30 years, I have decided to step down as President of the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID), the organization I founded in 1996. After much reflection, I know the time is right. I am delighted to announce that, following an exhaustive search, Ralph Memoli, our Executive Vice President who has worked alongside me for the past 25 years, has been selected to succeed me as President, effective August 1, 2026. I will remain involved during the transition and continue to assist with special projects as needed.

When I began at the Lincoln Square BID, I had little more than a typewriter, a borrowed desk, and a visionary Board of Directors who believed in creating something special for this neighborhood. Together, we built an organization that has helped transform Lincoln Square into one of New York City’s most vibrant and desirable communities. Those of you who remember the neighborhood in 1995 know just how much it has changed. Lincoln Center was already a cultural anchor, but Lincoln Square looked very different from the neighborhood we know today. Together, we invested millions of dollars to make it cleaner, safer, more beautiful, and more welcoming while supporting business and residential growth.
 
Over the years, we celebrated many successes and navigated more than a few challenges. We moved into a modern office, recovered from a devastating flood that temporarily displaced us, adapted through the pandemic, witnessed the evolution of our commercial district, transformed our public spaces, and watched our residential community continue to grow. Through it all, the Lincoln Square BID has remained focused on serving this neighborhood. I am especially proud of what we have accomplished together. Our streets are spotless and inviting thanks to our outstanding Clean Team and the Goddard Riverside Green Keepers. Our neighborhood feels safe thanks to our dedicated Public Safety team and our partners at the 20th Precinct. Through our programs and events, we’ve worked hard to make Lincoln Square not only a wonderful place to live and work, but also a fun and unique destination. None of this would have been possible without our exceptional Board of Directors, whose commitment to investing in this neighborhood has never wavered, or our talented and hardworking staff. We have built strong partnerships that have benefited this community, and I have personally enjoyed working with dedicated colleagues throughout city government during my tenure.

I have complete confidence in Ralph Memoli as he assumes the presidency. Ralph has been an indispensable partner for the past 25 years, and he certainly doesn’t need training wheels. With your continued support, I know he will lead the Lincoln Square BID to even greater success. I leave knowing the organization is in excellent hands. Please join me in welcoming Ralph to this new role.

As I reflect on this decision, I realize how fortunate I have been to spend my entire career in public service. Before founding the Lincoln Square BID, I worked in the nonprofit sector, served as a congressional aide, was elected to my local school board, worked at the Department of Investigation, earned my law degree while attending night school, and later served in City Hall as an Assistant to the Mayor and in senior leadership positions at several city agencies. My final position before joining the BID was Executive Director of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Appointments. I had the privilege of serving under six New York City mayors and working alongside many extraordinary public servants. In 1981, I even married one of them. Looking back, I can honestly say I loved every minute of my career in public service.

Most importantly, I want to thank all of you. It has been a privilege to work with so many remarkable people and dedicated community organizations over the years, and I am deeply grateful for your friendship, partnership, and unwavering support. Together, we built far more than an organization—we helped shape a neighborhood and a community, and we had a great deal of fun along the way. I look forward to spending more time with my family, swimming every day, and finally enjoying some well-earned time off.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving this extraordinary community. It has truly been the honor of a lifetime.

Perk up! Lincoln Square has a new spot to kickstart your morning or cure the afternoon slump. Croissant et Café is now open at 154 West 70th Street, between Broadway and Columbus Avenue, in the former home of Café Mozart. It’s a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

True to its name, the café serves coffee and espresso drinks alongside a selection of baked goods, specializing in croissants and focaccia. Persian ice cream is also on the menu for those looking to try something luxurious. With a variety of treats on hand, there’s something to satisfy every craving.

Croissant et Café is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00am to 4:00pm and is closed on Sundays, with plans to expand to seven-day-a-week service by September. Stop by on your next coffee run. Be sure to give Lincoln Square’s newest café a warm welcome!

There’s even more brewing in Lincoln Square! A new sushi restaurant is planned for the storefront next door to Croissant et Café, adding another dining option to the block. Brasserie Boulud, which will also include Épicerie Boulud (1900 Broadway, at West 64th Street), is expected to open soon following renovations. Signage also recently went up at The Shops at Columbus Circle (10 Columbus Circle) announcing that Madewell will open on the second floor. Meanwhile, Café Aroma has officially rebranded as Café Adora (1873 Broadway at West 62nd Street). Keep an eye out for more business openings and neighborhood updates in the months ahead.

Get ready to dig into NYC Restaurant Week®, returning Monday, July 20 through Sunday, August 16 with $30, $45, and $60 prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus at participating restaurants across the city. Whether you’re planning a casual lunch or a celebratory dinner, Restaurant Week offers plenty of reasons to pull up a chair.

With this week’s heat wave in full swing, staying cool has never tasted so good. Lincoln Square has plenty of ways to enjoy something refreshing, whether you’re craving a frozen dessert or something cold to drink.

Nothing says summer quite like a frozen treat. Enjoy handcrafted gelato from Amorino (44 West 63rd Street, between Broadway and Columbus Avenue) or L’Artigiano Gelato (10 Columbus Circle). You can also stop by L’Arte del Gelato’s seasonal gelato cart at Lincoln Center Plaza, where you can enjoy small-batch gelato and fruit-forward sorbets through September. Croissant et Café (154 West 70th Street, between Broadway and Columbus Avenue) also serves Persian ice cream for a unique summer treat.
