For six September evenings, the Metropolitan Opera will bring five performances from its Live in HD series to the big screen at Josie Robertson Plaza as part of the 2026 Summer HD Festival. The free outdoor series runs Wednesday, September 2 through Monday, September 7, offering audiences the opportunity to experience opera in the heart of Lincoln Square.
The festival opens on Wednesday, September 2, with the first act of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, followed by Acts II and III on Thursday, September 3. The lineup continues with Bellini’s I Puritani on Friday, September 4, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin on Saturday, September 5, Gabriela Lena Frank’s El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego on Sunday, September 6, and Puccini’s La Bohème on Monday, September 7.
Approximately 2,500 seats will be available each evening on a first-come, first-served basis, with no tickets or reservations required. Showtimes are 8:00pm each evening except for I Puritani, which begins at 7:30pm. All presentations will include full open captions.
Guests should note that Josie Robertson Plaza will be cleared approximately two hours before each screening for security procedures and will reopen at designated access points one hour before the presentation. The screenings will go on as scheduled in the rain but will be canceled in the event of thunder, lightning, or high winds. Canceled screenings will not be rescheduled.
