Last Chance for Summer Streets in Manhattan
The last Summer Streets of 2026 in Manhattan will take place on Saturday, August 15, transforming more than 20 miles of city streets into a car-free playground for walking, biking, running, and recreation. From 7:00am to 3:00pm, the route will stretch from the Brooklyn Bridge to Dyckman Street, including Broadway between West 110th Street and Dyckman Street, with free fitness classes, live performances, art installations, public art, and family-friendly activities taking place along the way. Please allow extra travel time and plan accordingly, as traffic impacts are anticipated along the route. Learn more about Summer Streets on the NYC Department of Transportation’s website.

New York City has announced OPEN for Small Business, a package of more than 50 reforms designed to reduce paperwork, outdated requirements, and other regulatory burdens for small businesses. View the full list of proposed reforms here.
E-bike Health Study Survey
NYU and NYC DOT are studying how cycling links to heart health, and how the streets around you influence the choices you make. Where you ride, what feels safe, what keeps you off the road. That’s evidence that shapes policy.
The survey only takes 5-15 minutes to complete, and those who complete it can enter to win 1 of 10 X $100 gift cards. E-bike riders, conventional cyclists, delivery workers, or someone who just knows how to ride are welcome to take the online survey, which closes on Monday, August 31. Answers are confidential.

Fresh Food For Seniors
Seniors can place the next order of Council Member Gale Brewer’s annual Fresh Food for Seniors program today, August 12, for pickup on Wednesday, August 26, at the Goddard Riverside Older Adult Center (593 Columbus) from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The cost is $10, while the bag of fresh produce from local farmers is worth about $15.

Con Edison Alert
Con Edison is performing a Gas Upgrade on West 68th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West, with work expected through Wednesday, September 30. Please expect limited street parking, temporary lane/bike lane closures, noise, and generator(s). The work schedule is as follows: Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Saturday from 8:00am to 6:00pm, and Sunday from 9:00am to 6:00pm. The reference number is 26-03335.
