Healthy Aging
Lincoln Square’s rich cultural, educational, personal wellness and shopping resources make our neighborhood a wonderful place to live or visit at any age, including individuals who are well into their 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s or beyond!
Here at the BID, we pride ourselves on the fact that many of our operational programs already make Lincoln Square “Age-Friendly”—our Clean Team removes litter and other trip hazards and clears sidewalks of snow/ice. Our Security Team reports potholes and broken streetlights and helps anyone requiring assistance, including seniors needing directions or appearing disoriented. And our beautification and streetscape programs provide flower-filled gathering places with amenities like free concerts, a greenmarket and plenty of seating.
Many other businesses and institutions in Lincoln Square also offer amenities or services to be enjoyed by older adults. Our latest publication, Lincoln Square: A Community for All Ages, features places to stop, sit and relax, a listing of the area's free public art and monuments, public restrooms and other information, assistance and accessibility needs... all compiled and designed with our neighborhood's older adults in mind. Our new brochure was produced with support from Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer.
