mercedes-benz fashion week
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week debuts at Lincoln Center this September and the retail shops, restaurants and lounges in the surrounding Lincoln Square neighborhood are excited by the event’s move to the neighborhood. The BID has even commissioned special posters that have been distributed to local establishments to celebrate and welcome Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and encourage attendees to “venture beyond The Tents” and to explore the neighborhood’s many restaurants and shops. The BID is also working closely with IMG Fashion, the producer of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, on a special promotion to be advertised in the official program that will offer Fashion Week the event’s credential holders menu and bar offerings and incentives at over two dozen nearby restaurants.
Although the majority of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is closed to those outside of the trade, many in the Lincoln Square neighborhood are finding ways to engage the general public in what has become a seasonal celebratory affair.
Barnes and Noble (Broadway and 66th Street) will host a public book signing with America’s Next Top Model judge Nigel Barker on Monday, September 13th and the BID is also partnering with Barnes and Noble to host a book signing the following evening, September 14, 7:30 p.m. with stylist Monica Diaz, founder of New York-based personal image consultancy Style Matters, Inc. and author of 7 Days to Style.
In addition, dozens of area businesses will participate in Fashion's Night Out. Some of this year's highlights include a Jazz at Lincoln Center performance featuring GRAMMY Award nominated vocalist Karrin Allyson in the Circle of Style lounge on the 2nd floor ofThe Shops at Columbus Circlefrom 6:30-7:30PM. And,Fashion Lab in Process, (FliP™) a new company created and directed by FIT educator and artist, Daria Dorosh, will be showing its first collection of garments and accessories to the public in a 'fashion theater' program at the American Folk Art Museum, 2 Columbus Avenue, between 65 - 66 St. from 5–7 pm
